e-Qualitas deliver nationally recognised, work-based routes into teaching via the Teaching Apprenticeship and School Direct programmes.

Both routes award QTS after a training period of c. 12 months, funding and salary grants available to trainees and schools.
The Teaching Apprenticeship Programme (TAP) is an alternative to a traditional full-time university course, offering a postgraduate-level qualification, no tuition fees, and the opportunity for trainees to earn while they learn.

In addition to working towards QTS, upon successful completion of the course, apprentices will also complete an end-point assessment (EPA) after the summer to consolidate learning from initial teacher training.

The Teaching Apprenticeship Programme (TAP), is an Initial Teacher Training (ITT) course which allows schools to recruit and train new staff or retrain and upskill current staff in a cost-effective way.

Trainees achieve QTS and complete the Teaching Apprenticeship around the 12-month mark while staying employed and working in a school. The Teaching Apprenticeship Programme is a popular alternative to a University-based PGCE pathway into teaching.

  • Trainees are employed by a school while they learn in the job. In some cases, this may be a school they’re already working for, or have an existing relationship with.
  • If a trainee is already working as an unqualified teacher or teaching assistant, QTS offers new opportunities for career progression, plus higher earning capacity, recognition, and status.
  • Trainees receive a combination of classroom teaching and off-the-job training as they work towards QTS.
  • The secondary programme focusses on the 11 – 16 or the 14-19 age range and the primary programme takes place across the 3-7 or, 7-11 or 5-11 age ranges.
The School Direct (Salaried) route allows schools to employ graduates and help them learn ‘in the job’ as they earn a salary and work towards gaining Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
